Symmetries in quantum mechanics, and the degeneracy of the Hamiltonian
The relation of unitary symmetries of a time-independent quantum system with the degeneracy of the Hamiltonain is investigated. It is shown that the Hamiltonian of the system is degenerate, if and only if the system has nontrivial symmetries.
